Patrolman Emmett Smith received a report of theft by deception from a business in the 200 block of Morris Avenue.  The victim reported receiving a call from someone advising that they were a representative from Jersey Central Power & Light.  The caller stated that the business was behind on their electric bill and that the power would be shut off if they did not make a payment using a MoneyPak card.  Detective Sergeant Christopher Kucinski is investigating.

Patrolman Matthew Phillips received a report of a stolen bicycle from H.W. Mountz school that occurred on May 18th.

May 16th

Patrolman Matthew Phillips and Sergeant Patrick Gilroy were dispatched to the 200 block of Monroe Avenue for a burglar alarm activation.  Upon arrival officers located evidence of several attempts to gain entry to the residence.  Patrolman Emmett Smith and K9 Ersko along with officers from surrounding agencies assisted in a search of the area.  The search of the area was negative.  Detective Sergeant Christopher Kucinski is assisting in the investigation.

Public Information

On July 11th at approximately 7:30pm, Spring Lake Police Department received a call of an attempted luring that occurred 20 minutes in the past.  Officers responded to the area but were unable to locate a subject or vehicle matching the description.

On July 12th, Sergeant Timothy Moran and Patrolman Michael Palmer conducted interviews with the victims.  Through the investigation Officers were able to identify the subject and vehicle.  The victims positively identified the vehicle and subject as the one that they called about on July 11th.  Officers interviewed the subject and are confident that the incident was not an attempted luring.

All citizens are encouraged to speak with their children about these types of incidents.  If they encounter someone or see something suspicious please urge your children to immediately contact the Spring Lake Police Department at 732-449-1234 or 9-1-1.

May 14th

Patrolman Emmett Smith received a report of theft from a resident in the 100 block of St. Clair Avenue.  Detective Sergeant Christopher Kucinski is assisting in the investigation.

Patrolman Ryan Reiff responded to a business in the 500 block of Warren Avenue for a report of identity theft and forgery.  Detective Sergeant Christopher Kucinski is assisting in the investigation.

Patrolman Matthew Phillips received a report of criminal mischief to a residence in the 400 block of Washington Avenue.

May 12th

Patrolman James Heine received a report of criminal mischief to a residence in the 400 block of Ludlow Avenue.

A 50 year old male was arrested by Detective Sergeant Christopher Kucinski and charged with criminal mischief and trespassing on the dunes.  The charges stem from an investigation that began on March 15th.

 

May 7th

Patrolman Matthew Phillips received a report of criminal mischief to a residence in the 400 block of Washington Avenue.

Subsequent to a motor vehicle stop, Brian Vasque-Altamirano, 21 of Point Pleasant Beach was arrested by Patrolman James Heine.  Vasque-Altamirano was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, believed to be under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia, operating a motor vehicle under the influence, as well as other motor vehicle offenses.

May 1st

Subsequent to a motor vehicle stop, Rickey Laytham, 22 of Neptune was arrested by Sergeant Anthony Ploskonka.  Laytham was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, believed to be under 50 grams of marijuana as well as other motor vehicle offenses.

Subsequent to a motor vehicle stop, Blair Schwartz, 19 of Brick was arrested by Sergeant Anthony Ploskonka.  Schwartz was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, believed to be under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia.
