Patrolman Joseph Liddy received a report of attempted fraud (BAIL SCAM) from a victim in the 200 block of Worthington Avenue.

Patrolman Ryan Reiff received a report of an attempted fraud from a victim in the 400 block of Salem Avenue

Spring Lake Police would like to remind residents to watch out for scams currently occurring in our area.

September 10th

Subsequent to a motor vehicle stop on Ocean Avenue in the area of South Boulevard, Maxwell Martins 32, Scotch Plains was arrested by Patrolman Julia Cutolo. Maxwell was charged with driving while intoxicated as well as several other motor vehicle offenses.

Patrols along with Spring Lake Fire, Spring Lake First Aid, & the After Hours Water Rescue Team were dispatched to the area of Jersey Avenue Beach for a report of three juvenile swimmers in distress. Upon patrols arrival two of the juveniles were out of the water with the third located on the jetty. All were checked by Spring Lake First Aid and refused medical assistance.

September 9th

Subsequent to an investigation Andres Aguirre Lambert 26, Union was charged with two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, and criminal attempt by Patrolman Joseph Liddy. The additional charges are from an incident reported on August 17, 2022.

September 3rd

Subsequent to a motor vehicle stop on Ocean Avenue near the intersection of Pitney Avenue, Kristophe McCrossen 45, Bayonne was arrested by Patrolman Joseph Liddy. McCrossen was arrested based on an active warrant out of another jurisdiction.

September 1st

Subsequent to a motor vehicle stop on Ocean Avenue near the intersection of Pitney Avenue Cooper Mathews 25, Toms River was arrested by Patrolman Joseph Liddy. Mathews was charged with driving while intoxicated as well as several other motor vehicle offenses.

August 26th

In the 1300 block of Third Avenue, Natasha Gilhooly 37, Spring Lake was arrested by Patrolman Matthew Phillips. Gilhooly was charged with criminal mischief, unlawful possession of a weapon, terroristic threats, and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose. Gilhooly was release on a summons pending court.

August 20th

Patrols were dispatched to the 400 block of Atlantic Avenue for a report of a fire at a residence. Upon arrival patrol located 3 individuals that were passing by the residence, noticed the fire and alerted the homeowner, and called the police. Patrols were able to get the fire under control with limited damage to the residence. Spring Lake Fire and First Aid responded and secure the scene.
