Patrols responded to the 1700 block of Third Avenue for a report of a fire. Upon arrival Officer located vehicles at the rear of a residence under construction on fire. Spring Lake Fire Companies and First Aid Squad responded and the fire was contained. Sergeant Sean Duggan, Detective Sergeant Christopher Kucinski, and the Fire Marshall Office of Spring Lake and Monmouth County are investigating.

Applications for Class I Police Officers – Summer 2020
The Spring Lake Police Department is currently accepting applications for Class I Special Officers. Special Officer Class I are hired to assist with the beach front and Third Avenue Business District during the summer season.
Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
- Must be a citizen of the United States
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- A minimum of a high school diploma or a GED equivalent
- Must be able read, write and speak the English language
- Must be in good health and be able to perform the physical demands of the duties assigned
- Must be of good moral character and shall not have been convicted of any crime or offense involving moral turpitude or dishonesty that would make him/her unfit to perform the duties of police officer
Selected applicants will be sent to the Monmouth County Police Academy to take part in a mandatory two week training for the position in early April – May 2020.

September 8th
In the 700 block of Ocean Avenue, Blair Davis, 26, Old Bridge was arrested by Patrolman William Noble. Davis was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, believed to be under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia.
September 5th
Patrolman Matthew Phillips received a report of suspicious activity at a residence in the 000 block of Lorraine Avenue.
August 31st
Subsequent to a motor vehicle stop on Ocean Avenue near the intersection of Howell Avenue, John Koppenaal 28, Belmar was arrested by Officer Joseph Liddy. Koppenaal was charged with driving while intoxicated as well as several other motor vehicle offenses.
August 30th
Patrolman William Noble received a report of identity theft from a resident in the 200 block of Ocean Avenue.
Patrolman Matthew Phillips received a report of harassment from a resident in the 500 block of Mercer Avenue.
August 29th
Michael Corrao, 22, Manalapan was arrested by Patrolman William Noble in the 100 block of East Lake Drive. Corrao was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, believed to be under 50 grams of marijuana as well as possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia.
August 28th
A 15 year old juvenile was taken into custody for three (3) separate incidents of criminal mischief. Same was released to a guardian pending action by the Monmouth County Family Court.
August 27th
Patrolman Jeffrey Algor received a report of theft from a business in the 1300 block of Third Avenue.
August 24th
Subsequent to an investigation Earl Sullivan III, 53, Wall Township was arrested by Officer Joseph Liddy. Sullivan was charged with one count endangering the welfare of a child as well as one count of lewdness. Patrolman Ryan Reiff and Patrolman Matthew Phillips assisted in the investigation.
