Welcome to Safety Day

Spring Lake Police would like to welcome the Spring Lake Fire Companies and Spring Lake First Aid to Safety Day.  Members will be on hand for demonstrations, tours of their vehicles and to answer any questions.  Safety Day will be held on June 21, 2014 from 11 am to 3 pm at Marucci Park (Third Avenue & South Boulevard) in Spring Lake.

We would also like to thank the First Aid Squad(in memory of Madeleine Stockdale) & the Fire Companies of Spring Lake for their generous donations to help fund this event.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand

Come on out to 402 Worthington Avenue on Saturday June 7th in support of an Alex’s Lemonade Stand.  The event will run from 11 am to 4 pm to raise money and awareness of childhood cancer causes, primarily research into new treatments and cures.

Safety Day 2014

The Spring Lake Police Department is proud to 
announce that it will be hosting a Safety Day On June 21, 2014 from 11 am to 3 pm at Marucci Park in Spring Lake (Third Avenue and South Boulevard).

The day will feature a BMX and Skateboard stunt show with riders from the X Games featured on ESPN. They will be performing shows throughout the day.  The riders will also be giving away t-shirts and posters and be available to sign autographs.

Patrolman Emmett Smith and his K9 partner Ersko will be conducting a demonstration on the abilities and functions of the police K9 Unit.

A group from the Jersey Shore University Medical Center Injury Prevention Unit will be on hand for a Bicycle Rodeo with games and prizes.  Attendees are encouraged to bring their bicycles and helmets to participate in the rodeo.

The  members of the Spring Lake Police Department will be issuing Kid Safe ID cards.  Parents will be able to have their child checked for accurate weight, height, and photographed for an identification card that will be issued back to the parent.

Officers will be on hand to inspect child safety seats in vehicles to make sure that they are properly installed.

 

 

Car 22Officers will be on hand to assist residents with information and enrollment in various programs that are offered by the Spring Lake Police Department.  We will offer an inside look into the patrol vehicles and answer any questions the kids or parents may have.

Members of the Spring Lake First Aid & Fire Companies will be on hand to give tours of their ambulances and fire trucks.  Members will also be on hand to answer questions.

FREE food and refreshments will also be available.

Spring Lake 5

This is the Spring Lake Police Department with important information for tonight and tomorrow. Tonight Ocean Avenue will be closed to traffic and parking from Essex Avenue south to Sea Girt boarder for the Kids Race. Possessing an alcoholic beverage in public is illegal and will be strictly enforced with a summons being issued.

Tomorrow morning many roads in the Borough will be closed for the Spring Lake 5 Mile Run. The race begins at 8 AM and many roads will be closed shortly before that time. Parking is also prohibited on the following streets due to the race:

All of Ocean Avenue

All of Brown Avenue

Third Avenue in the Business District from Monroe Avenue south to Passaic Avenue

Second Avenue south of West Lake Drive.

Any vehicle parked in those areas will be ticketed and towed. The overnight parking ordinance will not be enforced tonight. If you need to leave the Borough in the morning, you may park your vehicle on a street west of the race course so you can leave town.

Normal traffic patterns and parking regulations will resume at noon tomorrow. Thank you for your cooperation and have a safe weekend.

Monmouth County 2014 Chief’s Test

Monmouth County Chief’s of Police will be offering the entry level examination for all non- civil service agencies in Monmouth County.  The testing will be offered at the Monmouth County Police Academy (2000 Kozloski Road, Freehold, NJ.) on June 9th, 10th & 11th.  For more information, or to register please check the Monmouth County Police Chief’s website.

MS Coast the Coast

On May 17th participants of the MS Coast the Coast bicycle ride will be traveling through the Borough on Third Avenue, South Boulevard , Ocean Avenue & Brown Avenue. Participants are riding to raise money for the National MS Society.  Although there are no particular closing of roads please be mindful of the riders throughout the day.

Spring Lake Irish Festival

On May 17th Spring Lake rolls out the Irish Hospitality in the Third Avenue Business District.  Please come out and enjoy this wonderful event featuring food, songs and shopping celebrating Irish heritage. The event will run from 12:00 PM to 4:00 pm.

Portions of Third Avenue, Morris Avenue and other side streets in the area may be closed to traffic & parking during the event. 

National Bike/Walk to School

On Thursday May 15th, H.W. Mountz school will be participating in the National Bike/Walk to school day.  Children & parents are encourage to walk or bike, with a helmet to school.  For the safety of the children participating in the event normal procedures for arrival and dismissal will be altered for the day.

  • Tuttle Avenue will be closed between Fourth Avenue and Fifth Avenue to motor vehicles.
  • For students arriving by car drop off will take place in the coned off area on Fifth Avenue between St Clair and Tuttle.
  • Bicycles will be parked near the front entrance to the school on Tuttle Avenue.
