May 14th

Patrolman Emmett Smith received a report of theft from a resident in the 100 block of St. Clair Avenue.  Detective Sergeant Christopher Kucinski is assisting in the investigation.

Patrolman Ryan Reiff responded to a business in the 500 block of Warren Avenue for a report of identity theft and forgery.  Detective Sergeant Christopher Kucinski is assisting in the investigation.

Patrolman Matthew Phillips received a report of criminal mischief to a residence in the 400 block of Washington Avenue.

May 12th

Patrolman James Heine received a report of criminal mischief to a residence in the 400 block of Ludlow Avenue.

A 50 year old male was arrested by Detective Sergeant Christopher Kucinski and charged with criminal mischief and trespassing on the dunes.  The charges stem from an investigation that began on March 15th.

 

May 7th

Patrolman Matthew Phillips received a report of criminal mischief to a residence in the 400 block of Washington Avenue.

Subsequent to a motor vehicle stop, Brian Vasque-Altamirano, 21 of Point Pleasant Beach was arrested by Patrolman James Heine.  Vasque-Altamirano was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, believed to be under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia, operating a motor vehicle under the influence, as well as other motor vehicle offenses.

May 1st

Subsequent to a motor vehicle stop, Rickey Laytham, 22 of Neptune was arrested by Sergeant Anthony Ploskonka.  Laytham was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, believed to be under 50 grams of marijuana as well as other motor vehicle offenses.

Subsequent to a motor vehicle stop, Blair Schwartz, 19 of Brick was arrested by Sergeant Anthony Ploskonka.  Schwartz was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, believed to be under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia.

Spring Lake 5

Tomorrow morning many roads in the Borough will be closed for the Spring Lake 5 Mile Run (see below for course map). The race begins at 8 AM and many roads will be closed shortly before that time. Parking is also prohibited on the following streets due to the race:

All of Ocean Avenue

All of Brown Avenue

Third Avenue in the Business District

Third Avenue from Passaic Avenue to Lake Como

Second Avenue south of West Lake Drive.

Any vehicle parked in those areas will be ticketed and towed. The overnight parking ordinance will not be enforced tonight (Friday night into Saturday morning, 5/28/16).  If you need to leave the Borough anytime in the morning, we suggest you park your vehicle on a street west of the race course to make it easier to leave town.

Normal traffic patterns and parking regulations will resume at noon tomorrow.  Thank you for your cooperation and have a safe weekend.

Spring Lake 5 Kids Race

a4a4e5221754fb46ddf97c7a4e02b215On May 27, the Friends of Spring Lake 5 will be hosting the Spring Lake 5’s Kids Race.  The event is held on Ocean Avenue near the area of the South End Pavilion.  The event is open to children up to 14 years of age.

Ocean Avenue will be closed to traffic and parking from Sussex Avenue south to Sea Girt boarder for the Kids Race.

Possessing an alcoholic beverage in public is illegal and will be strictly enforced with a summons being issued.

The Spring Lake Police Department recently received multiple reports of attempted SCAMS.  Most recently the JCP&L Past Due Bill SCAM, CraigsList Fraudulent Home Rental SCAM, & a Department of Motor Vehicle Traffic Citation SCAM – NEW.  Please review our SCAM Alert page on our website (click link below) to help protect yourself and your loved ones from becoming victims.  Remember, anyone who is pressuring you to send money immediately could very well be trying to SCAM you.
