November 11th

Subsequent to a motor vehicle stop in the 2200 block of Third Avenue, a 17 year old female from Wall Township was arrested by Patrolman Matthew Phillips.  The juvenile was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance; believed to be under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of a controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia, as well as motor vehicle offenses.  The juvenile was released to a guardian pending action by the Monmouth County Family Court.

November 7th

Sergeant Patrick Gilroy and Patrolman Michael Palmer responded to Marucci Park for a reported dispute.

Patrolman Michael Palmer responded to the area of Passaic Avenue Beach for a report of a kite surfer in distress.  Upon arrival Patrolman Palmer observed the kite surfer in no distress, travelling south in the Ocean.

Christmas Tree Lighting

155486_4290681659364_2031946703_nOn November 25th, at 6:00 pm Mr. & Mrs. Claus will be making an appearance at Third Avenue and Morris Avenue for the Annual Tree Lighting.  The event will feature music, dancers, hayrides, as well as other activities.  After the ceremony, Santa Claus will be available to visit with at the Spring Lake Community House.

 

*** TRAFFIC ALERT *** 

Third Avenue from Jersey Avenue to Passaic Avenue will be closed to traffic & parking.  Portions of Morris Avenue will also be closed to traffic and parking during the event.

 

During the event at the Spring Lake Community House, Third Avenue between Brighton Avenue and Madison Avenue will be closed during that event.

Applications for Class I Officers – 2020

The Spring Lake Police Department is currently accepting applications for Class I Special Officers. Special Officer Class I are hired to assist with the beach front and Third Avenue Business District during the summer season.

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Must be a citizen of the United States
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • A minimum of a high school diploma or a GED equivalent
  • Must be able read, write and speak the English language
  • Must be in good health and be able to perform the physical demands of the duties assigned
  • Must be of good moral character and shall not have been convicted of any crime or offense involving moral turpitude or dishonesty that would make him/her unfit to perform the duties of police officer

Selected applicants will be sent to the Monmouth County Police Academy to take part in a mandatory two week training for the position in early April – May 2020.
